June 28, 2024 Jesus and the leper

Dear Jesus,

Matthew quotes:

When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” MATTHEW 8:1-4 (this is today’s Bible according to Matthew).

For a long time leprosy was considered an uncured disease, and lepers were the untouchable, and despised people, who lived isolated from communities. And You my dear Lord , You accept to touch this man, hideous, malodorous, and healed him.

How much love you gave to this miserable man!

Please come to me, and clean me out of all iniquities, greed, jealousy, hatred... You are not afraid to touch my life, even the parts I might find unattractive, undesirable, and bring me back to life, a life of a son deemed to be called a child of God the Father.

Dear God the Father, let me know You, and let me know myself. Knowing You, allows me to listen to You and practice what you command. Knowing me, to change my way into your righteous one, to have Heaven right in my heart and let You be with me forever.”

 Amen.
