April 24, 2025. THE ROAD TO EMMAUS.
THE ROAD TO EMMAUS
Two brothers, Cleopas and Jacob, shepherds, who had spent the Passover week in Jerusalem, now back to their little village, Emmaus.
Emmaus was west of Jerusalem, only seven miles or 12 kilometers from that big city.
Jacob was a believer of Jesus, but Cleopas was only a partial one.
On that Sunday afternoon they talked in great earnestness about Jesus, his teachings, work, and more especially the rumors that his tomb was empty, that certain women said they talked with Him and confirmed that He was resurrected.
Then appeared a stranger who followed them and said:
“What are you discussing so earnestly?”
“Can it be that you are only the one in Jerusalem who has not heard these rumors concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in words and in deeds, and the chief priests delivered him to Pilate to crucify him on the cross?” It is now the third day and certain women went to his tomb, found it empty, and they confirmed that they talked with Him. They maintained that He was really resurrected.”
The stranger said to them:
“How slow you are to comprehend the Truth. I am very familiar with his teachings, that Jesus always taught to his apostles and followers that His kingdom was not in this earthly realm, and that all men and women are the children of God the Father, and they are brothers and sisters, and must love and serve each other.
He proclaimed the salvation of God to all races, ministering to the sick and afflicted, and setting free for the anxious, the fearful and enslaved by evil. He prophesied that He be delivered up to his enemies who would put Him to death, and that he would rise on the third day?
Did you ever read the Scriptures concerning the day of Salvation for all mankind, Jews and Gentiles, free and slaves, that it says that in Him all people will be blessed? That He is the True and Good Shepherd to feed His flock? Gathering the loss and wandering lambs. That He will open the eyes of the spiritual blind?, and bring the prisoners of despair and sorrow unto freedom and full light of God the Father? That He will heal up the brokenhearted, free the prisoners of sin. Bring joy and hope to the desperate and the abandoned. That He will comfort the thirst of Truth and Righteousness, springing up to the everlasting life. Do you not understand his greatness and his love for mankind?
By this time the three men had come near to Emmaus. Soon they were in front of their small house, the stranger was about to take leave of the shepherds, but they invited Him to stay with them overnight.
They insisted that it was late at night and the road was dangerous. Finally the stranger consented to stay with them.
At the supper table, they gave the bread to the stranger to bless. He blessed the bread, broke it, and hand it to them, their eyes were opened, and Cleopas shouted:
“It 's the Master”, then Jesus vanished from their sight.
“No wonder how our minds burned within us."
They quickly finished their supper and hastily returned to Elijah's house and told the apostles about the event,
THIS IS THE NINTH APPEARANCE OF JESUS TO THE APOSTLES AND FOLLOWERS ON THIS SUNDAY OF EASTER.
Dear Jesus,
Let me know You and let me know myself. Know You to listen to Your Word and practice it in my daily life. Know myself to change my path into Your righteous one, to have Heaven in my heart, and You will be always with me.
Please bless the body and soul of all people who read this meditation in my BLOG.
Amen.
Hi Ba,
ReplyDeleteOur lives always surround by dilemmas, questions, concerns, or worries; we should pray and ask Jesus in every decision. Sometimes Jesus gives us an answer through an unexpected stranger’s story.
May the Holy Spirit remove our spiritual blindness so that we can see the truth and make the right decision or change for the better.
