 Dear Jesus,

Time passes so quickly at my age.

In the blink of an eye, a week, a month, or a year slips by. Looking back, I see ten years, twenty years—an entire lifetime—have vanished. Countless friends of mine have already departed from this wretched world. Those who remain are often plagued by illness, and many no longer even wish to stay in touch.

Not long ago, a close friend, who lived in the same student dormitory with me for nearly the entire duration of our medical studies, remarked:

“Looking back at the end of my life, I realize there were moments we made the wrong decisions, spoke the wrong words, or took the wrong actions. Some mistakes can be corrected quickly; others may take years or even longer to set right; yet, there are some mistakes that can never be undone.”

“Time moves on, and I cannot reclaim even a single second. It flows ceaselessly, like water spilling from a cup and vanishing forever. No amount of weeping or wealth can buy back the time that has flown away.”

My friend also spoke of wishing whether he could return to a certain day in the past to apologize to someone we had once hurt. By the time we realized our error, it was already too late, time had flown off, never to return, and that friend had passed away, no longer in this world to hear our belated apology.

The time remaining is far too short to waste on actions that lack compassion toward our loved ones or even the strangers we encounter along the way.

I still have loved ones to cherish today, I vow to humble myself, to listen, and to offer an apology whenever I realize that my words or actions have been improper or unkind.

We do not wait until tomorrow to do what must be done—for who knows if tomorrow will ever come, if today might be the last day of our lives?

I will speak words of love today, rather than waiting for tomorrow; for I know that some who depart never return, leaving no chance for me to offer an apology. There are people I encounter every day, yet there are others whom I may meet only once in a lifetime.

“Si jeunesse savait, si vieillesse pouvait”, “If youth but knew, if old age but could”.

My beloved little child,

Live each day as if it were the last of your life, and you will know how to act rightly toward both those close to you and those you barely know.

Always keep in mind:

“Live simply,

Love generously everyone you encounter with all your heart,

Care deeply those who need you,

Speak gently to all,

Entrust whatever remains—all that you cannot resolve yourself—to God.”

  • Dear Jesus,

Let me know You, and let me know myself. Know You to listen to Your Word, and put it into practice in my daily life. Know me to change my path to Your righteous one, to have Heaven in my heart, and You are always with me.

May my meditation bring many more readers, who are not yet believers, into your Forever Family.

Please bless all those who read this meditation in my Blog.

    AMEN.
